Effectiveness versus Efficiency

"Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things." Peter Drucker

Effectiveness is the extent to which an activity fulfils its intended purpose or function.

Effectiveness is a measure of quality and goodness. Effectiveness says: “Hiring the right person is more important than hiring someone right away.”

Efficiency is a measure of speed and cost. Efficiency says the opposite: “Getting someone in here right away is more important than getting the right person later.”
